Publish a page
You will learn how publish checkpoints work, who sees drafts versus published content, and how publish relates to version history.
Draft versus published
While you edit, Dokko auto-saves the live document. That live draft is what editors see in the canvas.
Readers with view-only access see the last published checkpoint, not every keystroke. If you have write access, the header may show Publish or Publish changes when the live draft differs from what readers last saw.
Publish a checkpoint
- Open the page and finish the changes you want readers to see.
- Click Publish (first time) or Publish changes (updates after the page is already published).
- Dokko snapshots the live document into a published edition and updates
publishedmetadata (time and author).
Effects:
- Viewers now see this body until you publish again.
- The page status moves to published on first publish (from draft or needs review, depending on your workflow).
- Later publishes replace the reader-visible body while keeping the page published.
Publish does not replace This is still accurate — verification updates health; publish updates what readers read.
Unpublished work
Draft edits stay hidden from viewers until you publish. Editors may see an unpublished changes indicator when the live doc has moved ahead of the last checkpoint.
Version history and publish
Each publish creates an entry you can open in Version history. You can filter history to published editions when you only care about reader-facing checkpoints.
